About the Project

Kapolei Energy Storage II (KES II) is ideally located adjacent to the original KES I project in West Oahu. KES II will occupy approximately 8 acres of industrially zoned land, strategically positioned to interconnect to the Hawaiian Electric’s Campbell Energy Industrial Park (CEIP) substation, a critical hub in Oahu's power network. The 142 MW / 568 MWh battery storage project will act similarly to KES I and provide load shifting and fast-frequency response services to Hawaiian Electric, enhancing grid reliability and accelerating the integration of readily available renewable energy.
